If you are anything like me, you cannot resist the urge to buy a cute notebook when you see one. In the end, it results in multiple empty notebooks just gathering dust. Thus, I have created a list of empty notebook ideas!
If you are looking to fill out all those blank journals, you are in the right place. Here you will find 33 empty notebook ideas that are aesthetic and fun.
Some of these can be used as page ideas for bullet journals or they can make up an entire blank journal on its own.
I included links throughout this post of journals I find very helpful 🙂

1. Wreck It Journal
This journal is definitely on my bucket list! It is a journal process that I like to call “destructive creativity”.
There is something about this concept that seems incredibly relaxing. You can be as creative as you like and it can be as chaotic as you want it to be.
2. Favorites Tracker
This can be a journal on its own or a page within one. I had one of these on my Notion board and it makes me smile every time I look at it.
A few categories I recommend keeping track of every month are:
Out of all the empty notebook ideas I have, I should be spending more time on this one.
I am all about understanding your emotions, and the best way to do that is to track your mood. You can use a score system like a 0 being awful and a 5 being the best day. I use a mental health-based system, which could be a post on its own. Let me know if you are interested.
Look up spreadsheet ideas on Pinterest. There are a lot of creative and fun ways to express a mood tracker.
Things I recommend adding to your daily mood tracker spreadsheet:
Did you consume alcohol that day?
Did you cry?
Have you experienced feelings of anxiety?
4. Brain Dumps
Brain dumping is the practise of decluttering your mind.
Use 5 minutes out of your day and write anything down that comes to mind without filtering. The idea is to transfer your thoughts to a page in real-time. This process can lower anxiety and detangle all the thoughts that are overwhelming you.
5. Habit Tracker
Habit trackers are a staple for bullet journals and I do see the benefit in them.
I feel so accomplished when I get to check something off of a habit tracker. Here are a few ideas to add to your habit tracker:
Oh my goodness! How is it December already? Anyways, welcome to my not-so-secret diary! It’s time for my November monthly recap. This …
6. Dream Journal
Oh, I would love this one! BUT I never remember my dreams… And when I do it is absolutely chaotic and does not make any sense.
However, if you are not like me, this could be for you. Write down your dreams in the morning when you wake up. I imagine it can be very funny reading it back.
7. Goal Tracker
Out of all the empty notebook ideas, it might not be the most exciting one, but it is most definitely an essential one for all my boss babe girlies.
Goal trackers should be divided into sections: weekly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annually. The more specific you get with your goal tracker, the more you will be able to accomplish within a realistic time frame.
I recommend writing all your goals down and then creating a space where you can check off if you are currently working on it and when you have accomplished it.
8. Meal Planner
I loathe cooking. Yes, I will say this in every post where I mention food.
That being said meal planning does make life easier when you don’t have to spend hours of the day thinking about what is for dinner tonight.
Use one of your empty notebooks and start a meal planner.
9. Wishlist
There is not a lot to say about this one. But it is nice to write down everything you want in one space.
You can also add different sections to your wishlist, such as:
Item
Price
Category (clothes, electronics etc)
Priority (low, medium, high)
10. Personal Journal
Let’s go back to the basics.
Why not use one of your empty notebooks as a personal journal? You can write about your day or anything your heart desires.
Become the main character and create a “Dear Diary” moment.
Fill in a blank notebook with your favorite recipes.
Spice it up by adding reviews and adding some creative features/calligraphy.
17. Gratitude Journal
A gratitude journal can be as simple as writing three things you are grateful for daily. It has a massive impact on positive thinking.
We are more likely to think about the things we don’t have than the things we do. The moment you shift this mindset you will have a more optimistic outlook on life.
18. Vision Board Compilation
If you are a visual and creative person this is the one from the empty notebook ideas list that is for you!
Go crazy and print out different vision boards for your life. It does not only have to be a yearly vision board. Create the following:
Scrapbooks are a fun and creative way to capture memories compiled within a book. Use stickers, washi tape, and more to bring all your memories to live.
20. Financial/Budget Journal
Personally, this one seems like the least fun in the empty notebook ideas list. But I won’t deny the usefulness of it.
You can keep track of your expenses and set up a budget the old-fashioned way. On paper.
Well, that’s about it. I am not an expert on this one (and I always fail at it. Oops).
21. Period Tracker
For all my irregular girlies, this one is for you.
A period tracker can be helpful in many ways:
Predicting your dates
Tracking ovulation
Determining patterns
With the last one, I am referring to mood changes. Like it or not, we have to deal with the fact that hormones play a huge role in our moods.
22. Bible Journal
It is nice to have a blank journal so you can take notes during Bible study. Or even at sermons, because we tend to forget them if we do not take notes.
If you struggle with Bible study I suggest the SOAP method.
S – Scripture
O – Observation
A – Application
P – Prayer
23. Letter To- Journal
I recently discovered a letters to journal and I am obsessed!
From all the empty notebook ideas list, this is by far my favorite. A letters to journal is a notebook in which you write letters to different people.
Capturing moments is one of the most important concepts to me.
These memories could range from your wedding day to something as small as a coffee with your grandma on the porch.
Don’t forget negative memories, though. It might not be pleasant to think about but I bet in a couple of years when you look back you will see growth from it.
25. Keep Your Sh*t Together Journal
Well, or an organizational journal. But that does not sound fun.
This includes everyday dull things such as:
Passwords
Email addresses
Home addresses
Phone numbers
Etc
26. Calorie Tracker
There are a lot of apps out there but if you are into aesthetics this might be for you (I prefer apps though *facepalm*).
I am a firm believer in low-calorie diets. It has become part of my lifestyle and I see the results. I am now at a point where I don’t count them anymore because I know what my limits are.
Speak them out loud to God and put them in writing. This is a great way to focus better when praying and it also allows you to become very specific with it.
28. Daily Doodles
Draw a doodle every day on a page.
Now, this does seem relaxing but it is extremely anxiety-inducing for my very unimaginative mind.
You do you, boo, and go doodle.
29. One Sentence a Day
I would recommend using Pinterest for prompts. (By the way here is the link to my Pinterest if you are interested *shameless plug*).
Sentence examples:
A quote
A prompt like, I feel anxious when…
A compliment
Even the weather of the day
30. Quotes Journal
Try to write a quote at least once a week. It could be from a movie you watched or from something you read. Or something from some old guy back in the old ages.
Quotes always have the power to motivate me and brighten my days.
31. Song/Music Reviews
I do not go a single day without music. It is my newest *addiction*.
This is basically the same as movie and book reviews.
List the artist
Genre
Favorite lyric
Song meaning
Overall rating
It can be in the form of a ‘song of the day’ kind of vibe.
32. Short Stories
Pinterest is a gold mine when it comes to writing prompts.
As someone who loves creating characters and stories, this is right up my alley. Play around with different genres and just get the creative juices flowing.
33. Content Ideas
If you are a content creator, I highly recommend a journal that is focused on content ideas.
When an idea pops into your brain, write it down. This goes for any platform. Remember, just because it is written down does not mean it has to come to fruition. It is just a content brain dump.
