Genius Tips For A Cozy Home Office Setup
1. Declutter Your Space
A decluttered desk makes all the difference. Start your day with an organized space. I have a small table next to my desk for my stationery and notebooks (because I’m a notebook hoarder, lol). You can also invest in a desk organizer like this one.
If space is limited, these computer monitor stands are perfect. They double as organizers and won’t take up extra room.
2. Calendars and Planners
Have a visible calendar or planner on or at your desk at all times. It might not sound like a cozy tip, but an aesthetic planner or a calendar against a corkboard says otherwise.Â
I am not a functional human being without my caffeine fix! I have never started a day in front of my PC without a mug of Jacobs coffee. However, I also take about 42 minutes to finish my cup. So, I present to you, mug warmer plates – the most genius invention known to mankind.
Place your cup on one of these bad boys, and it will keep your coffee hot for longer. Say goodbye to microwave runs.
5. Portable Electric Heater
This is crucial for all my Northern Hemisphere, snow-dwelling readers. Create a toasty environment with a small electric heater. As a South African, I just wear slippers all day and use my Christmas blanket in July, lol.
6. Mood Lighting
Overhead lights are overrated in the era of mood lighting! I have RGB lights all over my PC. Other options are:
Get an essential oil diffuser for the ultimate zen experience. Because why stress about work when you can stress with aromatherapy? All jokes aside, a home diffuser can be a great addition to your cozy home office setup.
Otherwise, candles will have the same effect. I prefer candles to diffusers. There is just something about lighting the wick and blowing it out at the end of the day.
8. Personalize with Photos
You want to know my favorite part of my desk setup? The two painted portraits of my husband and me. I smile every time I look up, and it is the perfect backdrop for my Instagramand TikTok videos.Â
Decorate your home office with photos of the people you care about (or your dogs). It will add a little smile throughout your day.
9. Plants
Bring the outdoors indoors by adding some greenery to your space. I’m talking hanging plants, succulents on your desk, bamboo in a corner, etc. Or if you are like me, all of the above but fake. I’m a serial plant unaliver.Â
10. Dog/Cat Corner
Create a cozy nook for your dog or cat in your home office. I love it when my dogs chill in the room while I’m working. A small pet bed or cat tree will do. I literally just have a large pillow with a dog blanket on top, and my rottweiler loves it! But these calming, fluffy doggy donuts look extremely inviting.
11. Rugs
Have you ever seen the difference a rug can make to a room? It is the number one cozy accessory. Place a rug under your desk chair in your preferred style. I’ve found that fluffy and boho rugs really make an area pop. It will also not take up too much space and protect your floors from your chair legs/wheels.
12. Floating Shelves
This is the perfect addition if your office is in a corner. Put up floating shelves on both walls that surround the desk. Decorate the shelves with plants, books, trinkets, and more.
Bonus points if you collage the shelves with fun wall art. You can find a bunch of affordable wall art on Etsy, like this Matisse set.
13. Accent Wall
Paint an accent wall. Use a fun color to bring life to the space. You can even paint an arch if you’re feeling creative.
Another good option is to use wallpaper. Match it to your aesthetic, whether you are going for dark academia, granny chic, or art deco.
14. Focus on Textures
Combine different textures in your home office setup for the ultimate warm and cozy feel, for instance, a fuzzy rug, leather chair, macrame art, and pampas decor.
Whenever I buy home goods, I always check to combine textures. It will give your space a feeling of luxury on a budget.Â
Run with these 14 tips for the ultimate cozy home office setup! It doesn’t have to be an expensive or time-consuming venture. You can just adjust your lighting or put up a vision board. Â
