19 Productive Things To Do On Weekends

Some weekends are for lazy lounging, and others are for bursts of productivity. Today, we will cover 19 productive things to do on weekends.

Productive weekends are not limited to your career. There is so much more than answering a load of emails or updating your Excel sheets (what gives you the idea, I have no idea what corporate jobs look like lol – animal scientist over here).

Let’s dive into productive things you can do on weekends that aren’t work.

Productive Things To Do On Weekends

1. Meal prep

Make your upcoming week easier by meal prepping. Plan your menu and neatly prepare each meal’s ingredients into separate containers.

2. Stock the fridge

Grocery shopping during the week is nearly impossible if you work a full-time job. As above, plan your menu and stock your fridge with everything you might need in the coming week.

3. Plan your coming week

These are one of my crucial Sunday activities. I am of zero value if I do not plan my week. Schedule all your appointments, meetings, and tasks on the weekend before. Bonus points if you can time block your week. Follow this link to see how I plan my weeks for productivity.

4. Charge all your devices

There’s nothing more frustrating than grabbing your iPad or headphones only to find they’re dead. Charge all your electronic devices on the weekends to avoid this annoyance.

5. Digital declutter

Digital decluttering can be a daunting task (especially if you hoard thousands of photos and never delete them – guilty as charged). You can go the extra mile and do THE ultimate digital declutter, which includes cleaning up your Spotify playlists, revising your medical ID, unfollowing toxic social media accounts, etc. Get my free downloadable checklist here.

6. Organize your closet

This is especially essential with the change of seasons. Put the clothes you haven’t worn aside for charity and wipe down all your shelves.

7. Tackle your purse

When was the last time you unpacked your handbag? Are you collecting a booklet of receipts in there? Then it is time to organize and clean your purse and wallet while you are at it.

8. Spring clean

When I say spring clean, I don’t just mean vacuuming and mopping. Wash your bedding, put out fresh towels, and if you are feeling super energetic, wash your curtains and windows.

9. Groom your pets

Personally, I don’t send my little one for a grooming session monthly. I bathe her myself and send her when she needs a haircut. As for my big reactive boy, he never sees a groomer. That’s why weekends are for brushing and washing my fur babies (not to mention it is a crazy workout).

10. Walk your dogs

Once again, this isn’t always possible if you work long hours, so see it as a double whammy on weekends, both of you get exercise and some fresh air. This is especially necessary if you don’t have a big yard for your fur babies to roam free.

11. Catch up with friends and family

Yes, it is productive to catch up with loved ones. Family and friends are important. It is also a great stress reliever to sip on wine and chat with the people who mean the most to you.

12. Volunteer

Use your weekend to volunteer at a local animal shelter, soup kitchen, or donate blood at a blood bank. It is not only productive but also rewarding.

13. Tend to your garden

Gardening is such a weekend activity. Tend to your grass, add some color, and become one with nature. Gardening is a grounding and serotonin-boosting activity, perfect for a productive weekend.

14. Work on a skill

Skills are extremely valuable. Like they say, knowledge is power. Use this weekend to learn a new skill, such as website designing, first aid, cooking, or even something as basic as changing a tire.

15. Create lists

I am a list person, so it is no surprise that I have a variety of lists on my phone, etc. There are numerous lists you make; some productive and others fun. They include a master to-do list, TBR lists, bucket lists, deadlines list, and more.

16. Review your goals

The only goals you will achieve are the ones you have a game plan for; otherwise, they are just dreams. Do a mini life audit on weekends, where you check your progress and adjust the plan if needed.

17. Do THAT thing

You know, the thing you have been putting off for months. We all have that thing, whether it is painting your furniture or finally designing a 1000+ page book review journal (yup, the latter is a project I’ve been putting off lol).

18. Reflect + recenter

It is productive to do nothing. Let me explain, you need time to reconnect with yourself. We are all running around like headless chickens, and that is how we get burnt out. Take some time on weekends to find a quiet place, disconnect from any distractions, and simply be.

19. The full me-time experience

Again, self-love is not unproductive. Recuperate from a hectic week by having a self-care day. It is the ideal time to put your self-care kit to good use. Indulge in a pamper session because you deserve it.

Conclusion

That wraps up my 19 productive things to do on weekends. Which ones are you going to do this upcoming weekend?
