It’s beginning to look a lot like goal-setting season – my favorite time of year. I have a plethora of vision board articles on my page, but today, we are focusing on vision board themes to get you started.
First, we’ll go through the classic categories. However, if you’re like me and prefer to combine everything into one mega vision board, don’t worry; we’ll also explore broader themes that transcend categories.

Powerful Vision Board Themes
The Categories
1. Career
Where are my type A girlies at? Career is a high-ranking category for me. It could be things like:
Starting your own business
Landing your dream job
Getting a promotion, or
Winning an award
2. Finance
Financial goals are another major category for many people, and there is nothing wrong with pursuing financial freedom. Your goals might look like this:
Health goals encompass both mental and physical well-being. Some ideas are:
Going to the gym more often
Losing x kg of weight
Prioritising sleep
Attending therapy
Staying hydrated
Journaling often
7. Travel & Adventures
Now this is my cup of tea! I deliberately added adventures to this category since traveling isn’t in everyone’s reach. I’d love to see the world, but currently I am limited to budget traveling within my country. I can’t complain, though. Check out my safari page here! Some examples are:
Visiting a new country
Going on a hike
Experiencing a thrill-seeking activity such as bungee jumping
These are activities that are enjoyable and maybe a little more achievable than big adventure goals. See them as mini adventure goals, for example:
Going on late-night ice cream runs
Setting a reading goal
Hosting costume/themed parties
Starting a wreck-it journal
9. Relationships
Whether it is a romantic or a friendly relationship, there are always goals to chase:
Meeting friends for coffee regularly
Having weekly date nights
Making a 5-year plan with your significant other
Visiting family more
10. Physical Environment
This is a category from the Wheel of Lifethat felt necessary to add because our environments impact our moods and well-being. Some good goal ideas are:
Are you entering your hobby-centered era? Then a hobby vision board theme might be for you. I have a major list of hobby ideason my blog, but here are a couple:
Stick to a color palette for a cohesive vision board. You can find lots of fun and neutral color palettes with hex codes on Pinterest.

My vision boards are always themed around my word of the year. See it as the theme you are aiming for. For instance, my 2025 word was ‘thrive’. I have a ‘Word of the Year Ideas’ blog post planned, so stick around to see it!
3. Aesthetics
Another way to create a cohesive vision board is to stick to an aesthetic. For instance:
Retro
Mininmalist
Magazine cutout
Cottagecore
Dark academia, and more
