21 Insanely Simple Daily Habit Tracker Ideas That Will Change Your Life

I compiled 21 insanely simple daily habit tracker ideas for you to level up! It’s the start of a new year and the perfect time to incorporate new daily habits to improve your life.

Habit trackers are physical or digital templates to check off your daily habits as you complete them. It is usually one page that logs the entire month’s data.

I couldn’t help but design one for YOU, and it’s FREE, as all my templates are! You can find it at the bottom of this post.

Choose a few habits at a time. Otherwise, it will overwhelm you, and you’ll give up on them.

As the founder of the Reality-Rooted family, I want to be transparent with you. I do not follow all these daily habits, because some don’t fit my lifestyle. However, that doesn’t make them less valuable.

Without further adieu, here are my 21 Insanely Simple Daily Habit Tracker Ideas That Will Change Your Life Today!

1. Make Your Bed

Here are the two realities we have to face:

  • A cliche is a cliche for a reason
  • A decluttered space equals a decluttered mind

Making your bed is a daily habit that sets the mood for the day, and it will only take 5 minutes out of your morning!

2. No Take-Outs

Takeouts have become such an easy way to get food. It is very alluring, especially if you hate cooking as I do. However, we cannot pass the fact that it is cholesterol on a plate.

3. Move

At first, I had this titled ‘exercise’. But I recognize this is a hard habit to do consistently (at least for me). This blog is about being Reality-Rooted. I want to stay true to that.

If you struggle to make exercising a habit, move daily. You can stretch or walk as a way to keep moving.

4. Journal

The power of journaling is heavily downplayed. There is a list of benefits that come with journaling.

It doesn’t have to take a lot of time. You can find a bunch of journal prompts on Pinterest or even one-sentence prompts. Use this daily habit tracker idea to benefit your mental health.

Here are a few posts I recommend:

5. Pray

Praying should be one of the most important daily habit tracker ideas I can mention. A day shouldn’t go by where you don’t talk to God.

A habit tracker could be very useful if you are going through a tough season or are a new believer. Studies show it takes 66 days to build a habit before it becomes a lifestyle.

6. Read the Bible

We need to nurture our relationship with God as with our earthly family. And besides, the Bible is the coolest book to exist!

Just remember one thing: A daily devotional book is NOT the Bible. It shouldn’t replace the Bible.

7. Get Up Earlier

I see a lot of influencers doing their 5 am morning routines on YouTube. As the founder of the Reality-Rooted family, I advise you to follow your intuition.

5 am mornings might work for them, but it doesn’t mean it’s everyone’s cup of tea. I am not planning on getting up at 5 am for a long time.

That being said, you shouldn’t aim to wake up at 10 am every morning. My aim is a healthy 7 am, mainly because I am a night owl. Get to know your body clock and work with it, not against it.

8. Lower Your Screen Time

Set a time limit to your screen time and stick to it. Experts say your screen time shouldn’t exceed two hours after work.

Honestly, I do not fit into that frame bracket and am not proud. It is definitely one of the most challenging daily habit tracker ideas on this list.

9. Consistent Skincare

Don’t skip your skincare routine. You will regret it as the years’ progress. Make sure to take care of your skin twice a day.

Find the right products for your skin type, and don’t skip them, even if you are tired at night.

If you want to know, I use the following products:

  • CeraVe or Bionike Cleansers
  • CeraVe or Bionike Toner
  • The Ordinary serums
  • CeraVe face cream
  • Bio-oil (this is MAGIC in a bottle)

10. No Alcohol

I will be transparent; I am not following this habit *facepalm*. I am not giving up on my occasional glass of wine or Amarula.

However, I am not denying the benefit of this daily habit. But I am only human and South African…

11. Read

Reading more is one of my new year goals. The benefits of reading include:

  • Better memory
  • Knowledge
  • Reduced stress
  • Etc

If you have a busy lifestyle, you can limit it to a chapter, page, or even a sentence a day.

12. Touch Some Grass

Going outside has an immense effect on your well-being. Humans are not meant to be cooped up in a cage.

Go outside daily. You can enjoy a cup of brew on the porch or play with the dogs. Just touch some grass

13. Practice Gratitude

Gratitude journals have been a hot topic for a while and for a good reason. More and more people are practicing gratitude.

It basically entails writing or saying three things you are grateful for each day, making it a very easy daily habit to add to your tracker. It could be more detailed if you wish.

14. Go to Sleep at a Descent Hour

Okay okay… Practice what you preach. I hear you loud and clear.

I go to sleep at a late hour but I also allow myself a healthy 7-8 hour sleep. Go to bed at the same time each night and allow yourself a healthy amount of sleep.

15. Do a Hobby Daily

We have a few basic tasks each day. Like a shower, eat, sleep, etc. However, having fun and relaxing should be another priority.

Choose a hobby a month and put time into it every day. Whether it’s knitting while watching television or cooking a new dish.

16. No Phone Before Bed

Electronics before bed can mess with your sleep cycle. Experts suggest reading or something relaxing before bed.

17. Better Dental Hygiene

I have not met anyone who enjoys wearing their retainer. However, the long-term benefits of good dental practice outweigh the opposite.

Brush twice a day, floss daily, and wear your retainer if you have one.

18. Coffee Dates

Many people might have ‘avoid caffeine’ on this list. I do not. My blog is called Coffee with Steph for a reason.

Make yourself a cup of brew and spend some time on the porch to reflect. It could be a solo date or with loved ones.

The crux of this daily habit is to disconnect from the world and enjoy the now.

19. Eat Dinner at the Table

Eating dinner at the table with no electronic entertainment is definitely on my New Year’s goal list.

Light a candle and gather the family. It is a fantastic social opportunity to build relationships with family.

20. Drink Water

We have a wide variety of drink selections which indirectly decreases our water consumption.

Aim for 2-3 liters of water a day and check it off your daily habit tracker if you accomplished it.

21. Learn Everyday

It is not a difficult daily habit. There are many easy ways to expand your knowledge. Simply listen to a podcast on your way to work instead of the radio or read a book instead of doom-scrolling.
