July Monthly Recap: Crazy New Goals And Making Memories

It’s that time again! Time for my not-so-secret diary entry. Welcome to my July monthly recap 💃🏻!

July was a little bit more stressful than the past 2 months, however, it still pulled through. If you’re curious about last month, check out June’s Vault here.

July Monthly Recap

The Highlights

Well, on a personal level, July did not shy away from creating more core memories.

Here are some highlights:

  • Another market! You may know by now that I’m a sucker for a good market. My mother, sisters, and I went to the Crafter’s Market, which might be the best one I’ve been to thus far! I bought two second-hand books, hopefully, this will incentivize me to read more.
  • Birthday celebration! My eldest sister turned 37 (yes, we have a 10-year difference). So, of course, that means a braai (it’s like a BBQ but not at all) on the farm.
  • Wimpy coffee! Okay, friends. You can’t understand the chokehold Wimpy (restaurant) has on South Africans. Nothing beats their breakfasts and cappuccinos.
  • The blog outperformed! A little more on that later.
  • New website, who ‘tis?  My blog got a much-needed revamp! It took me a week (cause I have no experience in web designing) but I think it looks much more professional. What are your thoughts?

I just want to clarify, I will share my lowlights if it directly affects me. There’ll always be challenges but I’m not comfortable sharing them if it’s primarily someone else’s challenge.

What happened to my goals?

The wins + milestones

I mentioned in June’s recap that I was a bit hesitant to push the limits that far again. So, my goals were a bit more chilled. And I have to admit, I’m glad I did. It was touch and go there for a hot second.

Here’s a rundown of my goals vs my results:

      • The goal: 380 000
      • The result: 406 000
      • The goal: 6000
      • The result: 7121
  • Blog Pageviews
      • The goal: 18 000
      • The result: 20 428
  • Blog Sessions
      • The goal: 9000
      • The result: 10 725
  • Email Subscribers
    • The goal: 300
    • The result: 315

However, here’s my biggest milestone: I went into June really wanting to lower my bounce rate (the percentage of users who only viewed one page then bounced). I successfully lowered my bounce rate to 39% from 59%!

I have resurrected my social media accounts, again. Hopefully, it sticks this time around. Check out my Instagram and TikTok – It’ll mean a lot.

I also uploaded 2 NEW freebies to my resource library! Check them out:

The losses

Which goals did I miss? As always, there will be goals you didn’t meet and it’s fine. Don’t beat yourself up about it. Just improve your strategy going forward.

  • Oh, Etsy… It’s been a goal for months! However, I’m just gonna do it. I’ve been procrastinating on it by telling myself I’m not prepared enough (I have 5 finished products and 5 works in progress). However, it’s time. I’m launching within the next couple of days!
  • Doing the Canva course and finishing Notion. I have no excuse, honestly 😅.
  • Guitar? Kinda forgot about that one. Oops…

Goal-Setting For August

I am in the mood for a challenge, so August’s goals are a little delulu

Here we go:

  • 500 000 Pinterest views
  • 10 000 Pinterest outbound clicks
  • 30 000 Blog views
  • 15 000 Blog sessions
  • 370 Email subs
  • 480 Instagram followers???
  • 100 TikTok followers???
  • Launch Etsy
  • Make my first sale
  • Finish a book
  • Journal a little more

I will say, I’m not confident about Instagram and TikTok. However, I have a good strategy for the rest of the goals.

The game plan

In short:

  • Improve my ad placements for a better user experience
  • Improve my site speed
  • Repin more on Pinterest (I upload 6 fresh pins a day but I need to repin more)
  • Pin more informational graphic pins
  • Upload 2 fresh digital products a week on Etsy
  • Post a reel a day
